Southampton Completes Signing Of Caceres – Former Juventus and Barcelona defender Martin Caceres has joined Southampton on a deal until the end of the season.
Caceres was able to join Southampton after the close of the January transfer window, because he was a free agent, as he left Juventus at the end of last season.
Southampton manager Claude Puel has been looking to sign a new defender since a long-term injury to Virgil Van Dijk and the sale of Jose Fonte.
The Uruguayan expressed happiness to have joined Southampton, as they prepare for the EFL cup final against United.
While speaking on his arrival, he said “I am very happy to have signed for what is an important club in English football,”
“I am looking forward to getting started with my new teammates.
“Of all of the options that I had, I think that the best option for me was to come to Southampton. I am extremely happy to have joined this club, the 29-year-old said.
The 29-year-old has played for a host of high profile clubs to date having enjoyed spells at Barcelona, Sevilla and Juventus.
