Sound Sultan Early Career

The veteran singer started developing an interest in music in 1991. He started with writing lyrics and miming at school parties. Sound Sultan gives his elder brother, Baba Dee the credit for his early interest in music.

Baba Dee studied theatre arts, so Sound Sultan received most of his early-stage experience from him. After secondary school, Sound Sultan learnt how to play the guitar and joined a band in 1999.

He started his show business career in 1996 when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions. In 1999, he emerged winner of several local talent-hunt shows and released his first single Jagbajantis in 2000.

Musical Career

Before his contract with Kennis Music expired in 2007, he had already released four albums with them. On leaving Kennis music, he partnered with Baba Dee to start Naija Ninjas. Naija Ninjas is a parent company for a record label, production outfit, and clothing line.

Sound Sultan believes music artists should not be judged based on their music genre, because the message of the song is the most important thing.

He worked with Wyclef Jean, 2face Idibia, and Faze on Wyclef’s Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101 album. After this album, Sound Sultan and Wyclef jean has collaborated on two other projects, King of My Country in 2009, and People Bad in 2012.

Never Despise Your Little Beginnings

Sound Sultan started his career with little or nothing. During his early career days, he wasn’t popular, and didn’t have much money as well. But, he had a dream. He worked so hard on his dream until it became a reality. Today, he is one of the veterans in the music industry, inspiring the youths with his songs.

Entrepreneurs should never despise their days of little beginnings. Don’t be afraid to start small, as little drops of water make a mighty ocean. In fact, starting small will help you learn fast and fail fast as well.
