Nikola Kalinic Turns Down £42.5million – Explains Why He Rejected Tianjin Quanjian Offer
Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic says he rejected £42.5million move to China… and that he isn’t worth the money anyway.
Former Blackburn Rovers striker Nikola Kalinic says he has turned down a move to China and does not think he is worth the money the club were willing to pay.
Kalinic, currently playing for Serie A side Fiorentina, was subject to a £42.5million bid fromChinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian, currently managed by Fabio Cannavaro.
However the Croatian forward was not keen on a move to the Far East as he feels he was more still to offer in European football.
He told Corriere della Sera:
‘It would have been a done deal if I had said yes, even if I’m not sure what the club would have said.
‘Cannavaro called me, but for me the issue closed and has never been re-opened.
‘I am really not worth the €50m (£42.5m) release clause and I doubt anyone will spend that for me.
‘I want to point out I didn’t know precisely how much the offer was but money isn’t everything in life.
‘I only just arrived in the football that really matters a year and a half ago and I didn’t want to leave now.’
Kalinic, 29, who struggled to make an impression in the Premier League at Ewood Park, has found more success in Florence, scoring 10 goals so far this season. On while Nikola Kalinic Turns Down £42.5million offer from china club.
