Latest Update on TikTok Cancellation – Microsoft Aims To Cancel TikTok Deal By September 15th: Microsoft notes that that CEO Satya Nadella discussed the issue with President Trump and that it plans to solidify a deal on the 15th of September.
What is getting Cancelled on TikTok?
This means that Microsoft would own and operate TikTok in the US, New Zealand, Canada, and, AUstrailer. The company also added that it may bring on other American investors as minority stakeholders.
“Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns,” the company noted. “It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury.”

If the company can successfully strike a deal with ByteDance, the company mentioned it will include “world-class security, digital safety and, privacy to the TikTok experience.
Just to be clear, there is a possibility these discussions may not work. That’s true for any high-profile acquisition, but these deals seem a little bit off since it seems to be the command of a President who has talked of banning TikTok.
Microsoft also says it’s looking forward to ensuring transparency with TikTok users while also ensuring digital safety protection by the government where it’s the operation of service takes place.
It is unclear what the end could result in. The company also claims it’ll keep privacy info from American TikTok users within the country, as well as ensure that their existing information and data outside of the US is totally cleared.
Moreover, Microsoft could include some stability to the mobile app in the US, where ByteDance has been accused of fo having nebulous ties to the Chinese government.
TikTok has strongly pushed back against implications that it was under the thumb of China, and said that it would refuse any user data request from the country. Microsoft doesn’t plan to give out ant additional updates until the TikTok deal is settled.
