Flavour is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and he plays several musical instruments. He is one of the most popular and desired African acts in the music industry. Early Life Of Flavour Nabania – The Flavour Biography
Flavour was born and christened Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli on the 23rd of February 1983 in Enugu State, Nigeria. He is 37 years old and hails from Umuneze in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria. He completed his primary and secondary school education in Enugu state and is the first male offspring with four siblings and seven step-siblings. His mother is Mrs Jane Onyinyechukwu Okolie and was a clerk with the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue.
Flavour biography revealed he attended Robinson Primary School in Uwani, Enugu, Nigeria and proceeded to Awkunanaw Boys Secondary School in Achara Layout, Enugu, Nigeria. Like almost every grass to grace story, Flavour has his own. He revealed that he came from a very humble background as it was strenuous for his mother to take care of five children. He stated, “It was hard for her as a civil servant to take care of five of us. She laboured to make sure her kids turned out well”.
Growing up the singer had to hawk cold water on the streets of Enugu where he is extravagantly admired today. Every struggling child, on the streets of Enugu, is inspired by Flavour’s story. They hope to be like him one day.
Personal life
Flavour lives currently in Lagos, Nigeria. He has two daughters namely; Gabrielle and Sophia with different baby mamas. They are, Sandra Okagbue, the ex-beauty queen and Anna Ebiere Banner, the Nigerian actress. He broke the hearts of his baby mamas when he stated that he won’t be getting married to any of them after an interview with Hip Tv in April 2016, he said”Marriage is not a thing that you just go into. This music business is a serious business. My own opinion, I think if you are in the peak of your career, you don’t need any distraction.
So for now, I think marriage could be a distraction for me because it is a whole big institution that when you go in, you have to be fully prepared to know what you are getting into,” he said. “And right now, looking at everything, its not so easy for me now….and most of my colleagues, whenever they get married, everything starts crashing down. I keep asking people, have you ever seen a successful musician having a good home and a good career? It’s not going to be easy. If you know one, just tell me” he added.

Flavour has also dated a number of ladies besides Anna Ebiere Banner and Sandra Okagbue. It was rumoured that he dated Chidinma Ekile, the Kedike crooner. This rumour was fueled after the duo shared a show-stopping kiss at the end of their numerous performances. They both denied the rumours anyways.
Flavour n’abania has also been involved with Onyinye Onungwa. She made claims of being in a romantic relationship with the Nigerian highlife singer, Flavour, but got dumped after he moved on to have children with Anna Banner and Sandra Okagbue. Onyinye Onungwa categorically stated that she is Flavour’s one and only. This may be true because of the matter of fact way she stated it. Onyinye Onungwa also starred in his “Shake Ukwu” music video. She has taken to Instagram to post her pictures and tag Flavour to them.
Flavour was also said to be dating Beverly Heels, his US-based girlfriend. Rumours made the rounds that he proposed to her but he debunked the rumours. He went on to dedicate one of his songs titled Beverly to her.

Career
The artist’s career commenced at an early age of 13, where he began playing the drums in Enugu for his church’s choir. He was then acquainted with Chris Ordor, the Chief Executive Officer of Soundcity Communications by a resident pastor. Flavour was then invited to study music with the company on an educational scholarship in 1996. He started playing the drums professionally after three years and from there moved to play the keyboard and usually provided backup vocals for other musicians at the company. He then began performing at City Center, Enugu where the desire to excel and find greener pastures began and then acquired knowledge of music production from Nnachie, Isi Charles and Dekumzy.
Flavour released his debut album N’abania in 2005 with the label Obaino music. N’abania was also the lead single on the album and was done with Mr Raw. The album’s fame was finite and limited to the Eastern part of Nigeria particularly Enugu state. Subsequently, after the release and success of the N’abania album, the artist released another album in 2010 ‘Uplifted’. The singer believed the album would exceed and transcend beyond the achievements of his prior albums. The album’s top singles included ‘ Adamma’, ‘ Oyi’ featuring Tiwa Savage and ‘Nwa baby’. The album was released after urgent demands by the public by Lolliphop Records in South Africa.
In 2012, the artist released ‘Blessed’. The album is said to be Flavour’s biggest album to date because of the number of producers that collaborated on the album. The album was released by iRocking and 2nite Entertainment. In an interview, the singer said “I think I’m growing. This is my third album… Now it’s time to give them the music, like define myself. I have to be more mature with my music, lyrics and instrumentation-wise. I worked with tons of producers and the whole production process made sense.” In December 2014, another album ‘Thankful’ was released and it featured hit songs like ‘Ololufe’ featuring Chidimma and ‘Wake up’ featuring Wande Coal. The album was consisted of twenty-two tracks, sold out thousands of copies and widely received favourable reviews from critics.
In 2017, Flavour issued ‘Ijele- The traveller’ consisting of 17 tracks and featuring a track from Semah G weifur, a blind Liberian fan. In 2018, two singles were released ‘ Crazy love’ featuring Yemi Alade and ‘Awele’ featuring the Igbo- traditional singers Umu Obiligo.
In 2020, the artist released his fifth studio album titled ‘ Flavour of Africa’. The album consists of 16 tracks with collaborations from various artists such as Tekno, Phyno, Larry Gaaga, Fally Ipupa, Odumeje, Waga Gee, Beenie Man, and Biggie Igba. The album was issued by OneRPM and Flavour’s 2Nite Entertainment and Production credits go to Spax, Mastercraft, Stadic, Jonny Blaze, Marvio, Rotimi Keys, Selebobo and DJ Tunez. Speaking on the album the artist said, “As a musician, I’ve transformed, evolved, and transcended within my music and social responsibilities”.

Controversies
Nigerian Entertainment Today, reported on the 29th of August 2012, that Flavour N’abania was caught up in a legal battle with Ghanaian musicians Wutah. The bone of contention was the alleged theft of Flavours music, “Kwarikwa”. According to the article, it reported that “Kwarikwa” is an exact copy and replica of Wutah’s song Kotosa. The singing duo accused Flavour N’abania of stealing their song, including the rhythm, chorus, and tempo.
Flavour has also caused serious controversy online over his latest music video. A call has been put across by Nigerians on social media for the ban of a music video ‘Looking Nyansh’ by popular singer, Flavour. “Looking Nyansh” is a track off his album, “Flavour of Africa” released in 2020.
