Facebook launches CatchUp, an audio-only calling app that shows who’s ready to chat now. Facebook’s internal R&D group, NPE Team, has today launched a new app called CatchUp that makes it easier for friends and family in the U.S. to coordinate phone calls or set up group calls with up to 8 people
Facebook the social media giant launches another new feature called CatchUp, it’s an audio calling app that lets you make phone calls easily with your friends and family. You can use the Facebook CatchUp app to set up a group call with up to 8 people. The unique feature about the CatchUp app is that you can only make use of it for audio calls only, it not available for video calls.

You don’t need a Facebook account to make use of the CatchUp app. The Facebook CatchUp app is designed to work with your contact list. The CatchUp app flags users who available for calling and who are ready to talk. It has the Facebook poke feature which allows you to poke a friend, well on the CatchUp app, you can poke a friend who is offline. The Facebook CatchUp app lets you send an invite to any of your contact telling them you are ready to talk.
For anyone to know you are ready to talk, you must set your status in the app, that you are available to talk now. Facebook’s intention for creating the CatchUp app is for you to know when some are available to talk. Calling is very simple using the CatchUp app, it just a one-tap button and your call go through. It not as complicated as that of your smartphone calling which you have to dial the contact first or search for the persons contact before you can call.

Well, there are a lot of ways which you can easily make calls, with the Facebook Messenger app and WhatsApp app. The only different from the 3 is that, the CatchUp app works together with your phone contacts. All you need to do is to download the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store.
How to Download the CatchUp App
Like I said earlier, you don’t need to create a new Facebook account or even use an existing Facebook just to use the CatchUp app. It doesn’t work with a Facebook account, it works with your contact list.
To Download CatchUp:
- Go to your app store.
- Type in CatchUp app on the search box.
- On the surjection list, click on CatchUp app.
- Then tap on install.

After it finish download you can click on the app to launch it. Then at the top you will see any of your contact who make use of the CatchUp app who set their status as Ready to Talk. While below you will see does who are offline and does who you can send an invite for them to make use of the CatchUp app.
